Key Result: There were 50 % fewer Trout cod caught in 2018 compared to 2017 and 2019. Electrofishing may have been less efficient in 2018 due to high water levels. Multiple size classes of fish, including young-of-year and mature fish, were caught in all three years, indicating Trout cod breeding and survival within the Goulburn River. Trout cod have not been stocked since 1997 suggesting that the Trout cod population in the Goulburn River is self-sustaining.
Stocking: No stocking has occurred since 1997, with 58,500 stocked between 1993 and 1997.
